Owston Ferry

Grade II listed building, begun in the last year of John Wesley’s life.  He visited it in 1790 but had to preach outside because of numbers.  After amalgamations it is the only Methodist church in the village. Now there is a morning service each week.   There is no longer a ferry across the Trent.  The old schoolroom has been demolished and there is a new suite of rooms and a house built on the site.  The church was refurbished and the organ was recently virtually rebuilt by a local organist.  There is a coffee morning on Thursdays and a Ladies’ meeting on Wednesdays. The village is close knit and caring. Church and Chapel have good contacts with the Residential Home in the village.
