OUR MISSION

Crowle Methodist Church aims to reach out to the community through the love of God, bringing spiritual and practical help.

Our chapel is a large building with a gallery built in 1904.  It has an attractive interior and a small well-kept garden.  The schoolroom buildings across the road housed most of our activities to date, but we hope to sell this to fund the refurbishment of the chapel for all of our purposes, thereby keeping down our maintenance costs.  We expect this to include the installation of kitchen and toilets, and the provision of some flexible space.  We hope to keep the beautiful atmosphere of the interior, and to continue our activities in the chapel building.

Our morning service starts at 10.45 a.m., and we are pleased to see any children.

We welcome visitors to our 'Call In' coffee morning on Tuesdays

Phoenix meets on Tuesday evenings and has a variety of speakers.

Fellowship meets on Thursday afternoons; our programme includes speakers and outings.

Many people in Crowle have connections with the chapel.  There is a secondary school in the town, and two primary schools, including St Norbert's (RC) next door. There is a Community Resource Centre, which holds courses and provides information as well as an excellent library.

The churches in the town (Anglican, Baptist, Methodist and Roman Catholic), meet regularly and enjoy joint celebrations in the new year, at Christmas, at Easter, and in the summer.

Our vision for working out our mission includes:

            a) providing opportunities for worship and for fellowship

            b) enabling people of all age groups to meet informally

            c) developing links with families and young people

and    d) raising money for other causes

            - through our own growing faith and prayer,

            - in cooperation with other churches and community groups;

            - by building on our existing activities,

            - by keeping within our financial capabilities,

in a setting that is inspiring and suited to these purposes

Our goals for the next five to ten years are therefore to:

1.      Reduce our premises to one flexible, inspiring, and welcoming building,

suited to both our existing activities, and our vision for the future.

2.       Build up the community of the church in faith and number.

3.       Move towards a ‘one member, one job’ leadership of church life and activity.

4.       Address the question of balancing our finances so that we can meet our expenses and invest in our vision for Crowle without causing a reduction in the circuit staff.
